There isn’t a lot to do here, so we find ways to entertain ourselves. Last night, we attended a minor league baseball game, featuring the Mahoning Valley Scrappers vs. the Jamestown Jammers. Minor League ball is one of the most fan friendly sporting events left these days, often featuring off-the-wall promotions. In August, the Scrappers sponsored, “Al Bundy Polk High T-Shirt Night,” in honor of Youngstown celebrity Ed O’neil (by the way, check out Modern Family on ABC if you haven’t… solid show).

Last night, was a presentation of the Baseball Brawl. This event featured local professional wrestling talent, along with some wrestlers past their prime, including Doink the Clown, Scott Steiner, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. My wife laughed at me when I paid $10 to have my photo taken with Steiner and Doink, however, wrestling was a huge part of my childhood. I still watch Monday Night Raw almost religiously (though I fast-forward DVR through most of it… the family friendly product the WWE puts out these days is mostly crap). So, I’m not sure how many of you know, but I’m married now. It’s pretty great. Yesterday, my wife and I decided to get some pumpkin beer. Today, during that excursion (sidenote – living so close to the Ohio border is AWESOME, being that you can buy pretty much anything you want at anytime… stupid PA puritans), we decided that it’d be fun to chronicle an autumn of imbibing as many pumpkin beers as we possibly can.

We’re going to a minor league ballgame tonight, however, afterward, we’ll be reviewing the first six, photoed below.

I’ve uploaded about 20 photos from last night’s show featuring White Wives, at an undisclosed location in Pittsburgh.

My initial reaction to this band is extremely positive.  It feels like an evolution to the bands in which the members currently, or formerly played in.  Being in that room last night brought back memories of 2001.  I hope that this project will continue to push forward.

A few months ago, December, I think it was, my wife and I went to see Dave Hause of the Loved Ones, along with Anchors End (ex-Better off Dead, ex-Unarmed).  This was one of the first shows when I had my shiny new (via eBay, at least) DSLR.  This was my first attempt at shooting a show.  I hope you enjoy.

I’m bored.  I need a hobby.

I abandoned this site back in 2008, due to some personal problems, time commitment issues, and general apathy towards the scene.  I’m a little older now, and I figured, why the hell not?  Pittpunk will always be a major part of my life.  Do I expect the numbers of posters or posts we had in 1999?  Not a chance.  Facebook exists now.  Social media essentially killed niche sites.

I’m still trying to get my web skills back to par, so bear with me.  I’m not sure if there’s going to be a forum.  Rust Belt Rising seems to be on that, and they’re doing a great job.  Maybe some sort of Twitter integration with a hashtag?  I’m open to suggestions.

Mostly, this is probably going to be more of what I envisioned Pittpunk to be when I ripped of Dave Brigade for the idea back in the mid-90′s.  Think of an early 90′s East Bay punk zine, that looks pretty on a cell phone.

We’ll see where this goes.  Stay strong.
